26 – 28 November 2025, Prague

The automotive aftermarket gathered in Prague for the third edition of Sustainability Day, bringing together industry leaders to exchange insights and drive progress on sustainability.

Chairs Louise Wohrne and Michael Boe opened the event by outlining current FAAS initiatives and setting the scene for two days of dialogue and collaboration. The opening keynote was delivered by environmental consultant Tilmann Vahle (Quantis), who provided a compelling overview of the key sustainability topics shaping the aftermarket, followed by a networking dinner for all participants.

On the second day, Andrea Weinberger (EY) shared valuable insights into how data can enable the industry’s sustainability transformation. Her keynote was followed by a fireside chat in which Lars Spelter (MANN+HUMMEL) and Louise Wohrne (MEKO) discussed their experiences and challenges in communicating Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) data.

Richard Brasher (LKQ) then explored the anatomy of traction batteries and the impact of electric vehicle adoption on the aftermarket. He introduced the concept of the “DR³ of EV batteries”: Diagnosis, Repair, Reuse, and Recycling. These perspectives were further explored in a panel discussion on the afterlife of batteries, featuring Michael Moser (MAHLE) on diagnosis, Bogumil Papierniok (EVorkshop) on repair, Michael Boe (TERREPOWER) on reuse, and Nils Steinbrecher (cylib) on recycling. Tilmann Vahle (Quantis) provided a system perspective on EV batteries.

Following a well-deserved lunch break, Monika Romenska (EXPRA) explained what sustainable packaging looks like in practice and how regulatory frameworks support improvements in packaging sustainability. This was complemented by real-world examples from FAAS members. Stéphanie Chheang (Valeo) and Peter Lukassen (Bosch) presented supplier initiatives such as cardboard pallets and recyclable product packaging, while Romain Thenard (PHE) and Benjamin Deloffre (AAG) shared how distributors are advancing sustainability in logistics.

FAAS Manager Stijn Vervoort introduced the topic of circularity by presenting the key findings of the FAAS study on remanufacturing. These insights were brought to life in a panel discussion featuring a remanufacturer (Thomas Meyer, Knorr-Bremse), a distributor (Mihaly Lieb, SAG), and workshop representatives (Miguel Gavilanes, GAI and Jiří Hrubeš, LKQ), who shared their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities of remanufacturing.

To conclude the conference, the chairs of all FAAS Working Groups recognised the outstanding contributions of their members and celebrated the concrete deliverables achieved over the past year. Congratulations to:

  • WG1 – Sema Zor (AUMOVIO)
  • WG2 – Karsten Lange (APS rema-germany)
  • WG3 – Lars Spelter (MANN+HUMMEL)
  • WG4 – Allan Stenson Blixt (MEKO)
  • WG5 – Stéphanie Chheang (Valeo)

On the final day, participants visited the Knorr-Bremse remanufacturing plant in Liberec, gaining first-hand insight into what circularity looks like in practice.
